The urban-type settlement of Glazunovka is the administrative center of the Glazunovskiy district of the Oryol region. In the village there is a railway station on the line Kursk - Orel. This area has been inhabited for a very long time - the first settlements date back to the 4th millennium AD. Initially, the area was settled, which today is the Taginsky rural settlement. This became known in 1907, after the first detailed survey of the area. In the distant past, many tribes settled here, the number of which constantly grew, which, in the end, led to a constant struggle for seniority. In connection with these events, the area began to be populated by the Slavs. One of the proofs that people have long lived on the territory of the Glazunov region are the traces of a moat that previously surrounded the prison located here. It is already impossible to see the moat itself, but its remains are hidden under young greenery and trees until today.

The modern Glazunov district was formed in 1965, and its center - the village of Glazunovka - in 1904 on the site of the railway station. Today, about seven thousand people live in the village, the infrastructure is quite developed here. The reference book of Glazunovka and the Glazunov District contains contact information about such large organizations as the Glazunov Canning and Vegetable Drying Plant, Glazunov Butter Plant OJSC, Glazunov Brick Plant OJSC and many other companies that provide jobs for residents of the region. Also in the city there are a ceramics factory, a twine and rope factory, a bakery, a food factory and a printing house.

Small business in the Glazunov region is represented mainly by trade organizations. The "Yellow Pages" of Glazunovka and the Glazunovskiy District contain information about the orphanage, which is engaged in the social rehabilitation of disabled children and the provision of medical, psychological and pedagogical assistance to children with intellectual disabilities.

Also on the map of the Glazunov region, you can see the local history museum, which will tell the history of this region. The museum is over 40 years old and consists of several halls. The main place is occupied by expositions dedicated to the events of the Great Patriotic War, because Glazunovka was under occupation for several years. On the second day of Holy Pascha, the temple was consecrated in honor of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos. Bishop (now deceased) Paisiy of Oryol and Bryansk, was appointed rector, Priest Fr. Leonid Melnik. The priest arrived at an almost empty place. The first service was performed by Father Leonid on December 19, 1993, on the feast of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The building was renovated for two years. They blocked the roof, put a fur coat on the walls of the building, put up a dome and a cross. From the day of the consecration of the small church, divine services were performed in it.

On August 5, 1996, construction began on a new church on the feast of the Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God, designed by architect M. B. Skorobogatov, which was reviewed and approved by Paisiy, Bishop of the Oryol-Livensky Diocese, on a small plot adjacent to the church. On the same day, a pit was dug.

In May 1998, the walls of the new temple began to be erected. The walls of the temple were laid out in three weeks. In 1999, the laying of the cornice began. Immediately, the craftsmen blocked the roof with iron. In 2000, the laying of the dome of the temple began. In May 2001, a vault was made and the dome was covered with iron, a lantern was made. In autumn they plastered inside the temple. In winter, heating was provided. Gorshkov Viktor and his son Pavel made a carved staircase to the choir and the frame of the iconostasis. In May 2002, plastering began on the outside of the temple. In three days they plastered and whitewashed the dome of the temple. On September 19, 2002, a gilded cross was erected by a brigade from the city of Orel. On this day, asphalt was laid on the territory of the temple.

On September 21, 2002, the new temple was consecrated. The rite of consecration was headed by the secretary of the Diocese, Archpriest John Troitsky. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, a moleben was served and a procession was performed. At the end of the prayer service, many years were proclaimed. Secretary of the Diocese, Archpriest Fr. John the Trinity delivered a sermon in which he thanked Fr. Leonidas for his labors, presented a letter with a prosphora and conveyed blessings and gratitude from Archbishop Paisios.

In the summer of 2002, the construction of the bell tower began. In the summer of 2007 the bell tower was completed and the bells were installed. The largest bell weighs 350 kg.

From 2010 to the present, the walls of the temple have been painted. Repair and restoration work in the temple is carried out at the expense of the parishioners, as well as entrepreneurs of the village. The church has a Sunday school. Through the work of the rector of the temple, Archpriest Leonid Melnik, work continues on the improvement of the territory adjacent to the temple.

Since 2008, together with the Dobro Foundation, the parish has been involved in charity work. Assistance is provided to the poor and large families. The parish does not ignore orphanages and rehabilitation centers. Educational activities are carried out among young people.
