How to remember dates from history. Methods of remembering dates from history: how easy it is to remember historical dates. Combined method of memorizing historical dates

Most people have a hard time remembering historical dates and events. This is due to the fact that our brain has difficulty absorbing information, soaked through with numbers and unfamiliar names. Especially if new knowledge is "shoved" into it by force and without the slightest desire to enjoy the process.

However, what if there is no time for empty reflections? What if the exam is next week and you don't know anything yet? How can you learn history in such a short period? Well, do not worry, because we have as many as six tips that can help you in this matter.

Method number 1: playing cards

Our grandparents knew very well how to learn dates from history, literally in a few evenings. To do this, they cut out rectangles from paper, somewhat similar to playing cards. On one side, they wrote the key date, and on the other, those events that accompanied it. It is noteworthy that already at the stage of preparation, our brain begins to memorize the selected historical dates and events, as it unconsciously focuses its attention on them.

As for the rectangles themselves, they are laid out on any convenient surface with the numbers up. When everything is ready, you should start studying the material written on them. To do this, you need to take a card and read aloud the text indicated on it back side... Then put it in place, only this time with the letters up.

This procedure is repeated until the moment when all the cards are upside down. Then you need to rest for several hours, after which you need to start processing the material again. After 5-6 repetitions, the dates will be completely fixed in the mind of a person, and with them the events that were attached to them.

Method number 2: mind games

Psychologists know how to learn history as accurately as possible. They have a special technique called Mind Play. Its essence lies in the fact that a person creates in his head stable images and pictures associated with the material he is studying. Simply put, he fantasizes on a given topic.

Let's say you need to remember the key points of the siege of Leningrad. To do this, he follows as an ordinary soldier, surrounded by invaders. Try to experience all the emotions that the Soviet military experienced at that difficult time. What orders did he receive from his superiors? How long had his squad been waiting for reinforcements? How glad you were that the enemy's ring was broken?

This technique will tie your memories, albeit false ones, to real dates and numbers, which later will help you remember all of them. True, to implement this technique, you need a good imagination, which, unfortunately, not everyone is endowed with.

Method number 3: visualization

However, then the question arises of how to learn the story for those who cannot create believable images in their heads. In this case, you can use those fantasies that already exist in real world... I mean, open a browser and search there documentaries history, archival photos, drawings and so on.

Looking through them, a person will gradually begin to memorize the material that they contain. After all, vision is one of the best mechanisms for absorbing information from environment... Especially when this process takes place in complete solitude and concentration.

Method number 4: starting point

When studying dates, you need to follow the order of calculation. That is, it is impossible to learn the chronology of events by jumping over it like crazy. Therefore, before starting to study the material, find common point countdown for all events. Then slowly "go" up through the years, counting in your head how much time has passed from the "place" of dispatch.

However, this method is only good in those situations where you need to study a certain time period. When it comes to an entire epoch, here the starting point is unlikely to help synchronize all events.

Method number 5: your own history book

How long does it take to learn the history of the whole world? A month, two, a year or more? In truth, it is impossible to learn absolutely all historical events. And you will have to come to terms with this, since human nature is to blame for everything. However, it is quite possible to remember key dates and events in world history.

To do this, you need to have a special notebook, preferably 96 sheets. It will need to make brief historical notes for each individual era. Over time, you will have your own history book, revealing the order of the formation of the world order. At the same time, it will be written in a language that you understand, which will subsequently help you study it from cover to cover.

Method # 6: how easy is it to learn history?

The last tip will be very trivial, but effective at the same time. All you need is to love this item. It's much easier to focus on what brings you pleasure. Agree, each of us remembers many interesting facts about your hobbies without even memorizing them.

So find in the story what you like and focus on that feeling. Let it be for you not dry facts, but distant memories of forgotten times. Thus, you will not only be able to study this subject, but also visit those places where no human has walked for a long time.

History is on the list of compulsory subjects in school. With its help, it is possible to move without a time machine to any era, to “observe” its main characters. There is a lot of information on this subject, it is difficult to organize and remember it. How to quickly learn history? How to remember dates, events and characters? The tips below will help you with this.

Someone is given this subject easily, someone else encounters certain difficulties in the process of studying it. What do you need to know in order to make it easier for yourself?

  • Give up cramming. How to learn history quickly and easily? Texts are not worth trying to memorize word for word. The key to success is understanding the material you read. Sometimes one vague term is enough to disrupt the entire system.
  • Break the paragraph into blocks. The text should be divided into semantic blocks. It is also helpful for memorization to come up with a title for each passage in accordance with its main idea. Then you need to retell each block in your own words.
  • Stimulate yourself. Each person remains a child at heart. He needs to be rewarded for a job well done. How to quickly learn history and love this subject? You need to come up with a reward for each new achievement. You can also design a system of penalties.

Tables and maps

How to quickly learn the history of a particular country? An invaluable assistant in this matter will be a table of dates, where they are distributed in chronological order. Such a table is worth referring to when studying each topic. The more often you use it, the more firmly the dates will be fixed in your memory.

Also, history is not easy to learn without historical maps that depict movements in the war process. In addition, they will help to understand the division of the earth at different times.

Historical notes

How can you quickly learn history? To memorize a large amount of information, it is useful to have a special notebook. It is designed to briefly take notes of the material studied. In a notebook, you can draw handwritten diagrams that allow you to visualize the connections between events. Graphic notes help to shorten large texts, promote memorization. You can also make a picture dedicated to a particular event.

Historical notes it is advisable to do it for each separate era. You can pay more attention to some event, to devote less time to some.

Mind games

"Games of the Mind" is a technique that has proven itself well in the study of humanitarian subjects. Its essence is the creation of stable images and pictures in your head, dedicated to the studied material. In other words, the technique invites a person to dream up on a given topic.

How to learn Russian history quickly? For example, a person is trying to remember the key moments in the blockade of Leningrad. In his imagination, he can take the place of an ordinary warrior who is surrounded by enemies. He should try to relive the emotions that the soldier may experience at this terrible moment. You can also imagine the orders given to the hero by the command, his possible exploits. The technique allows you to link your own false memories to real numbers and dates.

Visualization

Unfortunately, the imagination is not sufficiently developed in all people. How to quickly learn the history of Ukraine? For example, a person studies the reign of Princess Olga, who became the first ruler to adopt Christianity in the Byzantine rite. He needs to find documentaries and drawings on this topic.

Fantasies that already exist in the real world will help people who do not have a developed imagination. You can now find documentaries, drawings, archival photos and more on almost any topic.

Besides

History is a complex subject. The success of its study largely depends on whether the student is regularly engaged. It is necessary to make it a rule to refer to the textbook daily, to study new material at least 30 minutes a day. However, you should not study for several hours, since the brain simply will not have the ability to fully process information.

How to force yourself to learn history if you have absolutely no desire to do so? It is not at all necessary to start from the earliest times. You can choose the most interesting historical segment for yourself and start studying it. There will certainly be a desire to learn more about events that are directly or indirectly related to him.

Technique for memorizing historical dates

How to remember historical dates

Based on the book by E. Vasilyeva "SUPER MEMORY or How to remember to remember?"

The technique of memorizing historical dates is one of the most difficult techniques, because this information contains both words and numbers.

Historical dates can be divided into three groups according to the availability of digital information. The first group includes historical dates containing only a year. The second group includes the years of government, i.e. year and year. And to the third group - day, month and year. Let's consider the features of each group.

The historical dates of the first group are easy to remember, because contains only one number. The sequence of actions here is quite obvious. The year is translated into a specific image, and then "included" in the picture of the event. To translate a four-digit digit into an image, we agree on the first digit, i.e. 1 to discard and remember a three-digit number. And three-digit numbers are translated into images.

Historical dates of the second group are more difficult to remember, because they contain two numbers. Years are also translated into images and "included" in the "picture" of the event. But in this case, the sequence of these images is important! To correctly remember such information, you need to decide once and for all that the numbers will be remembered mental operation"Overlay" in the following order: right to left or top to bottom. In this case, successful memorization is guaranteed to you.

Historical dates of the third group are the most difficult to remember, because contain three digits.

Here are examples of memorizing the following historical dates:

1136 - uprising in Novgorod
1078 - 1093 - reign of Prince Vsevolod
August 17, 1610 - the occupation of Moscow by the Poles

Let's single out the key words in each historical date: Novgorod, Vsevolod, Poles.

Then we translate these words into concrete images and memorize them using the "Cicero" method. For example, the newspaper "Novosti" is on the door, Seva is standing against the wall, and a Pole (from the movie "Three Tankmen and a Dog") is sitting on a desk.

Now we remember each event separately.

We imagine that the "Novosti" newspapers are being torn apart by the insurgents.
The acquaintance Seva is dressed in princely clothes and seated on the throne.
Poles in a tank enter and occupy Moscow.

Now we "include" the images of the numbers in each of these pictures. Here's what we get: the "Novosti" newspapers are being torn apart by the rebels, who are throwing spools at the newspapers (136). It is possible that the coil stuck to the Novosti newspaper and the rebels are trying to rip it off.

Seva sits on the throne and holds a huge handkerchief in his right hand (078), and in his left - heavy backgammon (093).

Poles drive a tank to Moscow and see how braids (17) are sharpened on Red Square to cut a watermelon (August). They take out a brand new "Shock" chocolate (610) and start eating it with gusto. Or, in other words, the Poles in a tank enter and occupy Moscow. One of them has a long braid (17), in his hands are huge watermelons (August), and on his leg is a padlock with a key, all blue (610).

Control recall must be carried out first by events, and then by number.

If history is your core subject, then this information will come in handy for you. However, if not, it will still come in handy, because the dates and events will have to be memorized in preparation for any exam. After all, any science has somehow developed, which means that you will need to know all the main milestones.

Here we have already considered. Now let's explore other techniques.

Why do you need to learn to memorize dates?

The ability to quickly memorize dates will come in handy not only in studies at the Faculty of History, but also in real life... Shopping list, birthdays of friends and family, bus numbers - all this and much more is common in our daily life.

It turns out that many people find it difficult to remember dates and sequence of numbers. But if you exercise regularly, you can keep even the most irrepressible in your head. And here are some effective ways to memorize dates to help you.

Association method

Some people find it much easier to remember dates and other information by associating them with vivid images.

For example, how can you connect the year of birth of Washington and the date 1732?

  1. Imagine a boy with a Washington hairdo (or wig) chopping a cherry tree and shouting "I can't lie!"
  2. Imagine a man in a Washington wig throwing a stack of 1,732 bills into the air with a portrait of Washington himself.

You will be surprised, but in the method of associations your own body is often the best helper. Help to assimilate complex information faster:

  • rhythmic steps or swaying,
  • gesticulation,
  • singing using familiar tunes.

Remember digital rhymes? Here the principle is the same, only dates should be used instead of ordinary numbers.

Systematization method

This technique of memorizing dates is based on the ability to structure. If you line up all the dates in the correct sequence and order, you will have no problem remembering them.

Memorizing random dates is a pain. In order not to waste time, try to divide all the available information into groups according to some general characteristics.

The "digital-picture" method

The essence of this technique of memorizing dates in history is to create a detailed picture that pops up in your head when the necessary event is mentioned.

Imagine every character, every little thing. Next, expand the entire date into individual numbers, attaching to each number one of the images that have formed in the head.

For example, the number 8 can be associated with a female figure, and the number 9 with an impending wave. Then memorizing the date of the first baptism in Russia (988) is easy to remember by tying it to the picture with the people of Kiev on the Dnieper.

By the way, we now have tasty discounts on works on this and other topic.

Literal method

Nothing complicated here either. Ties any number to a letter according to the principle of external similarity. Here is an example of creating associations, but you can of course make a breakdown according to your own characteristics:

You can use funny associations to remember. For example, it is difficult to give the date of the battle for Kursk Bulge(1943). According to the above table, we will display the date in alphabetical form - TDCHZ. On these letters, you can come up with a phrase that will suggest the desired date. For example, tanks, smoke and black earth are quite colorful coloring describing what was happening on the Kursk Bulge at that time.

Another way to use this method is to mentally assign the first letter of the protagonists to each digit of the date. For example, the date 1812 can be translated into letters (and numbers) TV1B, where they mean the names of the commanders-in-chief (Tormazov, Wittgenstein, Alexander I, Bagration).

This method is especially good because, in addition to the date itself, you also automatically remember the names of the main characters or the main event.

Background method

This technique is designed to more quickly memorize a specific number or months.

To do this, it is enough to remember what personal events happened in your life on the day that you need to remember. Or you can tie the date to some natural phenomenon.

For example, on March 21, 1917, the Romanov family was arrested. But this date may be your birthday (or your loved ones). Also, this day is easy to remember as the end of the first month of spring, the beginning of snow melting and warming.

Semantic method

It is not at all necessary to come up with distant associations. You can simply take a closer look at the numbers and associate them directly with the event being remembered.

For example, in 1961, Gagarin was the first to fly into Earth's orbit. Remember two units - one means the first flight into space in the USSR, the second - the first flight in the whole world. The number 96, which is between units, connect with the south and north poles, where the flight also took place for the first time. No matter how you turn, these two numbers remain in place.

Analytical methods

There can be many ways of memorizing dates, which are based not only on the creation of certain images, but also on a deep understanding of the subject. The main thing here is not to remember the date itself, but to realize the sequence of events.

Consider two main approaches:

  1. A causal approach... Let's say you know the main events - famine, war, the death of the king, the war is lost. It is easy to build a causal connection here: there is disorder in the country, which the king is trying to resolve, but the enemies use this to unleash the war, and in the course of it the king dies and the troops lose heart, which leads to defeat. Understanding this, you will never mix up the dates, and in your head all events will be sorted out on the shelves and in the correct order.
  2. The method of semantic blocks... Among other ways of memorizing historical dates, this is one of the most difficult. But if it works out, then the date will be remembered forever. A certain period of time is divided into major events and periods (for example, the 20th century can be divided into the following periods - First World War, NEP, collectivization, Great Patriotic War, collapse of the USSR). Knowing the cyclical nature and peculiarities of the course of each of these periods, it will be easy for you to tie the desired date to this part of the century. Breaking a large period into smaller ones makes it much easier to remember dates and to fetch a certain event from memory even after many years.

Memory training method

This is not so much a technique as a lifestyle, adhering to which, it will never be difficult for you to remember this or that date.

During training, it is extremely important to be able to concentrate, since it is this ability that will allow you to memorize 20-60% more than usual.

Here are a few effective ways to do this:

  • remove anything that might distract you, start learning in a relaxing and calm atmosphere;
  • focus on the studied date, scan it with your gaze, without taking your eyes off it;
  • constantly remember that you need to keep this date in your head, write it several times on a piece of paper;
  • Whenever you meet on the specified date, write it down, or imagine yourself writing it down.

Don't forget about magic power repetition. The more often you repeat all the dates, the deeper they sink into memory.

Repeating important dates regularly can help train your memory. And if you need to learn a large amount of information, add one by one important date in a day.

Memory training can also be done in the form of a game. To do this, make practice cards. It is important to do them correctly:

  • for drawing up cards, you can use special computer programs... The date should be written on one side, the event on the back;
  • cards need to be shuffled all the time, because human brain quickly remembers the sequence and correlates with the previously spoken answers. It is important to remember what happened that day, not the sequence of cards;
  • look at the date and until the last try to remember the event, looking away. Peep only if you cannot reproduce in memory;
  • those cards that you have already learned and mastered, put aside. Practice with the rest to the same level;
  • train with cards regularly, after the next reading. Alternate with other types of study (reading notes, watching historical films, etc.).

The most important thing in remembering dates easily is to use them as often as possible. With frequent repetition of what you have learned, it will firmly and permanently settle in your memory. Do not hesitate to share what you have learned with family and friends, and remember constantly throughout the day, before bed.

Learned events will help not only to pass the exam well, but also to show off erudition in society. And with all other types of work and items it will be easier to cope with the help of special

There are a lot of such methods and they are based not so much on images as on a deep understanding of the subject. Analytical methods help to understand the order of events well, but they are exactly inferior to associations.

The first approach is causal... For example, you know certain events: famine, war, death of a king, defeat in a war. Very often easy to line up causation: turmoil in the country - the king is busy with internal problems - the enemies use this to start a war - the king dies in the war - the troops are demoralized, which means defeat. This way you will never mix up the dates, and in your head it will be possible to arrange them in the correct order.

Another approach is a little more complicated - semantic block method... You break down a given time span into large periods (for example: Civil War, NEP, collectivization, the Great Patriotic War) and for each period identify 6 or 7 spheres (politics, culture, military affairs, economics). Each sphere has its own cyclical nature. So, for example, many events in the history of the USSR are associated with the end or beginning of a new five-year plan, and the country's new course may be associated with the expiration of the term of the General Secretary. This division greatly simplifies memorization, and also allows you to "pull" from memory even the most difficult to remember dates.
