When you identify with one personality type, you run the risk of ignoring the body and the actual needs of the brain, which is not good for anyone.

The real difference between introverts and extroverts.

There is a huge amount of misunderstanding about what introverts and extroverts actually are. For many, everything comes down to the primitive, the extrovert is open, and the introvert is shy and closed. Many view introverts as couch potatoes, while extroverts easily strike up a conversation with strangers on the street. You may think that introverts are sensitive and extroverts are thick-skinned. None of these stereotypes are true, so let's be clear before we get into a mess.

Introversion and extraversion are aspects of personality that Carl Jung came up with in the early 20th century. Since then, they have often been placed on different scales of personality as an indicator of personality types, a practice begun by Myers-Briggs. Shyness and openness have nothing to do with all this; it's more about where we draw our energy from. Actually, the differences are quite simple:

Introverts get exhausted from social interaction and need solitude to recharge.
Extroverts feel anxious about being alone and gain energy from social interaction.

That's it. And there is absolutely nothing to do with shyness, domesticity or enterprise. Both types can be socially active, creative, leaders, and so on.

Countless studies show differences between extroverts and introverts regarding clothing choices, sexual behavior, and the like. The problem is that these studies show a correlation between introversion and extraversion brain differences, but do not take into account which brain differences might cause introversion or extraversion. And most importantly, we still don't know exactly how it works.

People usually don't fit 100 percent into the definition of one of the two types.

We love to classify ourselves. If we can identify with a brand, we merge with that brand. Having passed the personality test, we do not hesitate to classify ourselves as introverts or extroverts. The problem is that most of us fall somewhere in the middle, exhibiting both types of behavior. Jung, by the way, calls people who do not fit into any of the types, ambiverts.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that the binary system of human behavior is not completely accurate. It's not a video game where we clearly fall into the "good hero" or "bad hero" category. Introversion and extraversion are part of the global identity. Just like in politics, most of us don't identify with one opposite or the other.

As the name might suggest, ambiverts tend to drift between introversion and extroversion depending on the situation. For example, you may feel like you get energy from hanging out with one group of friends, but spending time with another drains you. These days, despite the fact that questionnaires say otherwise, psychologists view introversion and extraversion as a spectrum where we all tend to drift between these two extremes.

This is not to say that people don't tend to be more introverted or extraverted. There is a tendency, of course. But the science of individuality is not exact. There are many different factors that govern our behavior. From the characteristics of the brain to our life path, we need a myriad of factors to understand the whole person. The history of the terms "introvert" and "extrovert"

Since 1755, the terms "introvert" and "extrovert" have been present in English dictionaries. However, they appeared in scientific circles at the beginning of the 20th century thanks to the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung, a student of Sigmund Freud.

In his book Psychological Types, he gave a detailed description of each of them. Human libido was fundamental. Unlike Freud, Jung included in this concept not only the sexual aspect, but also behavior, the needs of a person in various life situations.

Based on this, introverts (from the Latin intro - inside) are people whose life energy is turned inward. For them, the personal inner world is of great importance. Extroverts (from the Latin extra - outside, outside), on the contrary, receive a boost of energy by directing emotions into the outside world.

The surrounding world is interesting and diverse. Often geographical places, events or objects carry different energies. People are no exception. Every person at least once in his life experienced an unconscious feeling of lightness and sympathy, or, conversely, restraint and tension when communicating with unfamiliar people. Introverts, on the other hand, are not impulsive. They plan their actions and control their emotions. They attach great importance to ethical and moral standards, avoid cheerful companies, preferring solitude. Actions and deeds are dictated by personal judgments, and not by the opinions of others. An introvert has few close people, but with those that are, they are connected by strong and long relationships.

The simplest tests for those who want to quickly determine what type of temperament they belong to:
