Cold winds and snow storms, what else to expect from the region where winter lasts almost all year round? However, people live here. The capital of Chukotka is the city of Anadyr. Who inhabit it? What is the story of this city? For details about it and we will open.

Chukotka Autonomous District

Chukotka is in the extreme north. It completely occupies the eponymous peninsula, as well as several closest islands. In Russia, this district is surrounded by the Magadan region, Kamchatka Terrace and Yakutia, bordered by the United States in the east. Its shores are washed by the quiet and northern ice ocean.

Most of the districts are located behind the polar circle. What a sea in the Chukotka, only his inhabitants know: Narvala, Finvals, a variety of whales and walruses. The local water temperature rarely exceeds 12 degrees. If we talk about the sea of \u200b\u200bChukotka seriously, then these harsh lands are washed at once three no less harsh seas - Bering, Chukotka and East Siberian.

Winter here lasts almost ten months, and during the year there is a cold subarctic climate. Bescrase expanses with numerous hills, mirrorless lakes and rocky shores most Time is covered with snow. Summer, as such, does not happen in the region, the average temperature in July is only + 5- + 10 degrees. There are almost no roads in the region and the railway tracks are completely lacking. The main transport on the peninsula is trucks and all-terrain vehicles.

There are many records for the Chukotka Autonomous District. On the territory of the district there are extreme eastern points of Russia (Cape Dezhnev and Ratmanova Island), as well as the northernmost (singers) and the most eastern city of the country (Anadyr).

It is within its limits is the eastern permanent settlement - Welen, the northernmost port of the country - Pevek. Rocky Cape Navarine is the most windy destination of Russia, and the population of white bears population lives on the island of Wrangel.

Capital Chukotka

Anadyr is the largest settlement of the district and its administrative center. It is located on the shore of the same name of the Limana Bering Sea, where the Anadyr rivers and the Cossack fall into it. A little west of the city is the bay of Oneman. Anadyr is located on a small lift, its center is located at an altitude of 35 meters above sea level. The southwest of it extends huge areas of flat tundra, occasionally covered with hills.

This is one of the most remote cities in the country. Local time dispelled with Moscow for whole nine hours. Geographically, the city is much closer to Alaska than to the capital of Russia (to Noma - 700 km, to Moscow 6192 km).

Anadyr Square is only 20 square kilometers. It is built up with panel and block high-rise buildings. The view of the city is slightly unusual. All his houses are multicolored and resemble a toy town. So here they cope with the pallor of local landscapes, because a small amount of sunny days and the lack of bright colors around can cause bad mood and even depression.

Climate

Climate Anadyr Subarctic Sea. In addition, it has a monso. In fact, there are only two seasons here, and with each change, air masses change. In winter, they are cold and dry, come from the side of the continent. Their action soften the proximity of the sea. Therefore, winter in the city of Anadyr is transferred easier than in other areas of Chukotka.

Summer is very short and much cooler than in the rest of the region. At this time, air flows from the ocean affect the climate of the city. They bring precipitation, fogs and cloudy, manifolding inhabitants with sunlight.

Winter in Anadyr lasts seven months, about 70 days of them are blizzard. Spring is almost imperceptible and lasts only May month. Autumn continues from the end of August to the end of September.

The average temperature of July is +11 degrees, in January it reaches -22 degrees. Strong winds are very often blowing, which can reach up to 45 m / s. In the summer they lead to storms and hurricanes, in the winter they create strong blizzards and snow storms. In 1968, one of these winds wore a helicopter in the airfield.

Animal and vegetable world

The nature of Chukotka is not so magnificent and colorful, as in the tropical regions of the Earth, but also it is impossible to call it completely. More than a thousand species of moss and lichens grow here, as well as hundreds of trees and shrubs.

The district is distinguished by the zone of the Arctic desert, Festourwood, Tundra and deciduous taiga. The city of Anadyr is located in the tundra area. Alder, fluffy, dye, cedar stabering, rowan, blueberry bushes, lingonberries, rosehips, shikshi, grows around it around it. In addition, Tundra is rich in mushrooms. The large layer of permafrost does not allow plants to deepen their roots. As a result, Chukotka trees are low, many look like shrubs.

In the area there are hares, snow rams, black squirrels, chips, minks and predatory mammals, for example, fox, wolf, wolverine, white bear, sable. The region arrives more than two hundred bird species. Water Bering Sea is full of fish and marine mammals. In Anadyr Liman, local catches, pike, nervma, salmon, and tourists are watching seals and whale-whites.

History of the capital of the district

The story of Anadyr, as cities, is associated with the development of Russian northern land. Chukotka was opened thanks to Semyon Dezhnev in 1648. Then the region was nicknamed. In 1660, Anadyr Ostrog was founded on the site of the first winter, which was located 10 kilometers from the village of Markovo.

In 1889, the researcher and the doctor Leonid Grinevetsky founded the post of Novo-Mariinsk in Anadyr District, placing him on the shores of Limana. Then the settlements of Chukchi were located on these lands. The location was very comfortable, the skew consisted of rubble, and not the swampy tundra and was a small elevation.

Gradually, the post began to grow in the village, which later became the capital of Chukotka. He was renamed Anadyr in 1924. At this time, about 200 people lived here, a library and a medical library worked. Three years later, the industrial development of Chukotka began, and Anadyr became the center of the district. His population has increased to a thousand people.

The first school appeared in the village, Pedagogical School. In wartime, spare airfields were built here, and the production of food tin began. After the second world settlement continued to expand: the seaport was created, the dam was built on the Cossack River, the first water supply was built. In 1965, Anadyr received the status of the city.

Population

Residents of the city are called Anadors. By the number of people, Anadyr is the largest city of Chukotka. About 15,000 people live in it. These are mostly Russian, there are also Ukrainians, Belarusians and Tatars.

The indigenous population of Anadyr and the entire region - Chukchi, Euren, Eskimos and Chudans. They are engaged in traditional fisheries: catch fish, bred deer, hunt whales. The emergence of industrial cities and villages affected their life. Those who live in cities often work in local enterprises, live in standard apartments, as well as non-cried inhabitants.

But most adhere to the traditional lifestyle and even earn it in tourists. They are moving further from the cities, periodically nomocau on the expanses of the tundra.

The most numerous ethnic group represent Chukchi. In Anadyr in 2002 there were 1,200 people. Near the city there is their ethnic village Tawaivam. Representatives of other nationalities are much less. In 2002, Eskimos in the city of Anadyr came out 153 people, Chuduvantans - 200, Evenov - 142 people.

Many Chukchi still live by communities. They are engaged in fishing and sell tools of national fishery as souvenirs. Their traditional dwelling is called Yaranga. This is a portable tent covered with animal skins. You can not see them in Anadyr or in Tavibuaama, since ordinary panel houses built for Chukchi.

The religion of the people, like Eskimos, is animism. Chukchi believes in the spirituality of the forces of nature, shining and animals, believe in the existence of evil spirits. For some holidays, they are accepted to "feed" the constellation or bring to the victim of fire.

Life in Anadyr

This city is very clean and well-groomed. All buildings and residential buildings in it are built on piles, and communications were performed on top. This is done because of the permafrost. It will approach very close to the surface of the earth. Contact with the buildings, its upper layers can disappear and disrupt the strength of the foundation.

So remote geographical position affects local prices. To live in Anadyr is very expensive. The cost of products and gasoline is almost twice the price of Moscow. Its products in the region are a bit, mostly meat deer and fish. The rest of the products in the city are delivered.

Residents of the city work at the Fish Plant, as well as at coal and gold mining enterprises that are nearby. There are two power plants in Anadyr - thermal and wind. Anadyr VES is considered one of the largest in Russia.

You can get to the city by air. The local airport is associated with flights with Khabarovsk and Moscow. It is located on the other side of Limana, a helicopter flies out of him in Anadyr.

Attractions Anadyrius

The capital of Chukotka is not deprived of attractions. On the main square of the city - Lenin Square - there is a museum "Heritage Chukotka". This is a very modern center with multimedia screens and other innovations. It can be closer to get acquainted with the life of Chukotka and the history of its development.

Tourism on Chukotka
There are places in the world, as if specially created for the test of a person "For durability". Chukotka is one of them. The edge of permafrost, winds and bliss, the rocky wedge cutting two oceans, Chukotka reveals his unique beauty only to those who are boldly ready to meet difficulties. The extremality of the climate has formed a completely special vital philosophy of indigenous peoples, whose way of being was initially subordinate to the highest goal - survival.
Because of Chukotka, the upbringing of the spirit of the spirit and the fortress of the body, physical endurance and dexterity was always very important. And today the development of sports in the district is given a significant role. Moreover, popular as Olympic and national sports. Racing on dog and deer sledding, competitions on Baidar - exciting and colorful spectacle, admire which many come from afar. However, the brave traveler is waiting for a lot of vivid impressions and unique sensations in Chukotka.
This ancient earth seems to breathe the most eternity. All the appearance of Chukotka is permeated with clarity, direct and nude. And in the third millennium, you can see the same landscape here that once appeared by the eyes of Russian pioneers: convincingly simple outlines of coasts and mountains, as if carved straight valleys, painted by the cutter, lakes and the purest rivers filling in the student seas.
The tourist will not leave indifferent and hospitality of the original owners of this land - Chukchi, Eskimos, Evenov, Chuvants, their dances and songs, their original art, carefully stored in centuries ... Chukotka is an amazing land, which has been able to preserve life and the ability to flow in harsh polar conditions. For a short northern summer, in the conditions of permafrost here every year there is a miracle - the real rival of the revival of nature, a conquering person with its unique beauty. Gomon bird bazaars, piercing cinema merging with the sky of Limanov, bright paint tundra reminiscent of a motley carpet ...
However, and covered with snow chuck is not less attractive for tourists who are ready to experience their courage and durability. After all, white silence only at first glance seems to be monotonous - life among the snow does not freeze for a minute! Do you know how warmly even in the most crowded strumbs in Yange? Have you ever ride on dog and deer sleds? Do you imagine how hunt for a walrus and how deliciously catched with your own hands Koryushka? If you want to take a break from civilization in the pristine world of nature, if you are manitis unknown and entails the thirst for adventures, then the journey to Chukotka will become a real pleasure for you!
