Yamalo-Nenets autonomous region was formed in 1930 and included in the Tyumen Region of the Ural Federal District. The climatic conditions are quite severe here. It is divided into three bands:

• arctic;
• subarctic;
• northern.

There are many swamps, bays, lakes and rivers on the territory, near the Kara Sea, the duration of winter is about 8 months. Summers are very short and may be accompanied by light snow cover. In winter, the column of a degree can drop to -55, and in summer it can rise to +30.

Administrative division and population

The district is home to 536,049 people (Rosstat data at the beginning of this year). The population here is quite "motley". Russians - about 62%, Nenets - about 6%, Khanty - 1.9% and other nationalities.

The history of the emergence of the village

Pangody is a relatively "young" settlement, formed in 1971. Located on the banks of the Pravaya Hitta River.

In 1976, the settlement was officially registered with the subordination of the Nadym region. This year the village council was formed, the borders were fixed.

The settlement and development of the settlement is associated with the opening and beginning of the development of the first gas pipeline. Then the construction of the Nadym-Punga and Nadym-Center gas pipelines began. Active gas production allowed already in 1979 to assign the status of "worker" to the settlement.

Later, railways were laid, in the village of Pangody of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Medvezhye airport operates, but it carries out exclusively local transportation.

In 2008, a section of the Pangody - Pravokhetinsky highway was opened as part of the Surgut - Salekhard highway.

By the way, in 2005, the issue of assigning the status of a city to the village was raised, but so far it is just a village in which 10,737 people live (statistics of 2017).

Climatic picture

Despite the possible sharp temperature drops in the region, the weather in Pangods of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is quite stable, the average annual temperature is -10 degrees. On average, in winter, the temperature reaches -26 degrees, and in summer it rarely rises above +20 degrees. In May, it can still be -2, and in October, the temperature is already zero, and at night up to -5.

2016 disaster

Nevertheless, in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in 2016, an abnormal heat was observed. During the day, the thermometer reached almost +38 degrees. Such an abnormal hot and dry year has not been observed since 1999. But even then the temperature reached only +26 degrees and lasted only 7 days.

The heat of 2016 lasted more than a month. Even near the Kara Sea, on the shores, the temperature was +33. As a result, fires started. Acrid smoke covered the multitude settlements, including Pangoda. As always, the local authorities distinguished themselves, instead of doing something so that the health of citizens did not suffer, they simply removed street video cameras so that the information did not reach the capital of the country.

After some time, the weather returned to normal. In the village of Pangody, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, a normal one for this season was established temperature regime+5 ... + 15 degrees.

Caring for the younger generation

In the village of Pangody, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, there are 3 kindergartens today. Preschool under the name "Golden Cockerel" was founded in 1987 and can accommodate 256 children. Kindergarten"Ladushki", which opened its doors in 1985, can accommodate 80 children.

In September 2017, another establishment was opened called "Dream". Educational institution built at the expense of Gazprom dobycha Nadym LLC. In January of this year, an expedition was organized around the Gydansky Peninsula and the Yamal Peninsula on dog sleds and snowmobiles. The first route running along Yamal with stops: Yangelny settlement - Pravokhettensky settlement - Pangody settlement - New Urengoy, designed to solve several problems:

• testing of equipment made for driving on snow;
• checking fuel consumption and compliance of the manufacturer's data with real ones;
• popularization of winter tourism;
• development of sled dog breeding;
• checking equipment for the expedition;
• development of skills, verification of planned and actual data on speed and time.

Despite careful preparation, the expedition did not take place; it was not even possible to reach the village of Pangody in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. This happened for a simple reason - the weather conditions turned out to be too harsh, which the equipment could not even cope with. However, the participants unequivocally stated that the expedition was not closed, but only suspended for some time. The team is finalizing the motorized towing vehicles so that they will be back on the route in the near future. Therefore, for now, you can forget about winter excursions to Pangody of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

But this is only a single case when the expedition to YAMAO was unsuccessful, so there is a hope that excursion routes for ordinary and unprepared people for the harsh conditions will soon appear.
