Passing the exam early: advantages and disadvantages. Unified State Examination: how and when to pass early What does early period mean

Every year, school graduates take state exams in late May and early June. This period is called the main period. The developers of the exams provided an opportunity to pass the state certification at a different time - an early period.

If you have objective reasons, then you have the right to sign up for an early time.

There are many stereotypes around this exam option. We intend to dispel them, so we will talk about the conditions and main characteristics regarding the early stage.

Criteria for early surrender

Graduates can take the Unified State Exam ahead of schedule if there is a good reason. It considers the situations that will take place during the main exam:

  • conscription;
  • stay in medical organizations according to the recommendations of medical staff in order to carry out medical procedures of various kinds and nature;
  • participation in domestic or international sports competitions, contests, training camps or olympiads;
  • moving on a permanent basis or in order to continue studying at a foreign university abroad;
  • evening education training;
  • training takes place outside the Russian Federation in another country with particularly difficult climatic conditions, but in a Russian educational institution.

An important condition is the fact that in order to confirm the above points, the educational institution must provide the relevant supporting documents.

Who can submit early?

Young people who have mastered the school curriculum have the right to choose.

This is about:

  • (both about those who graduated from school many years ago, and about those who received a certificate only a couple of years ago);
  • children who graduated from technical schools, lyceums, colleges and have the appropriate attestation certificates.

And, of course, this opportunity applies to current 11th graders who have one of the above reasons.

IMPORTANT: in order to get admission to the early passing of the state exam, you need to write an application addressed to the director, indicating the circumstance and attaching a copy of the supporting document.

Time spending

Annually in October-November, the dates of early state tests are published. Usually the period starts from March and ends at the beginning of April.

For example, in 2018, the delivery took place from 21.03 to 11.04.

To find out your key dates, check out the information on the website of the Federal Institute for Pedagogical Measurements.

Exam Difficulty

There is an opinion that the questions at the preliminary certification are simpler, because graduates of past school programs participate in them - those who have not gone through any topics and have not encountered a certain task format. And it is for this reason that many teenagers want to participate earlier.

This is the first and weighty delusion. Perhaps this was the case a few years ago. However, now there is no doubt about the validity of the collected options on the main and early periods. You just need to refer to the reviews and online analysis of assignments.

The guys who have passed this stage admit that the formulated questions are quite difficult. Most of the terms seemed familiar, but even they were so complicated that they caused trouble. High school students did not expect to see some tasks and turned out to be not ready for them. In this connection, they did not cope with the test - they did not score the required minimum points. According to experienced teachers, there are even more complex than usual questions.

The main thing in successfully passing the state test is quality training. Graduates who choose to take the exam early should take into account their degree of preparedness for the tests. It is better to set aside a couple more months for study, if possible. Otherwise, the pace of mastering materials should be accelerated.

The future of a teenager depends on the results of the exam, so haste is inappropriate here. Before making a decision in this matter, we strongly advise you to think carefully.

We tell you what conditions for early delivery are prescribed by law and what subjects you can take without waiting for graduation.

Why take the exam a year earlier

Every student has the right to take the exam ahead of schedule, including in the 10th grade. This decision can be made for several reasons:

  • To relieve yourself in the most difficult last year of school. If you pass the Unified State Examination in the Russian language and basic mathematics in the 10th grade, then next year it will be quite reasonable not to attend lessons in these subjects at school and not do extra homework.
  • To focus on studying the subjects necessary for admission to the chosen university - if the student knows exactly which direction he will enter.
  • To purposefully prepare for participation in Olympiads in the 11th grade - if the student plans to enter a university with a diploma of the winner or prize-winner of the Olympiad.

What you need to pass the exam in grade 10

According to the law "On Education" and the order of the Ministry of Education of Russia and Rosobrnadzor dated November 7, 2018 No. 190/1512 "On approval of the Procedure for conducting state final certification for educational programs of secondary general education", in order to obtain admission to the Unified State Examination, it is necessary:

  • to master the program of a secondary general education school in a specific subject in full;
  • not have academic debt (for each year of study there must be an assessment in the subject of at least three);
  • get a credit for the final essay in the Russian language.

Thus, to pass the exam in the 10th grade, it is enough to know the school curriculum well and have grades above three for each year of study.

Early writing of the final essay for those wishing to pass the exam in the 10th grade is not provided, it will have to be taken together with everyone in the 11th grade.

There are clarifications on this on the official portal of the Unified State Examination: “In accordance with clause 9.1 of the Procedure for conducting state final certification for educational programs of secondary general education, approved by order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia dated December 26, 2013 No. 1400, the final essay (statement) as a condition for admission to the GIA is conducted for students of XI (XII) classes. Thus, participation in the final essay when passing the GIA in individual academic subjects at the end of the 10th grade is not provided.

What subjects can be taken in 10th grade

All tenth graders can take the exam in three subjects, the development of which in full ends at the end of grade 10:

  • Russian language,
  • mathematics (basic level),
  • geography.

To pass the exam in any other subject a year earlier, you must complete the study of this subject ahead of schedule.

The law provides for several possibilities for this:

Education at school according to an individual curriculum

Every student is eligible for IEP, regardless of health status or academic performance. To receive an IEP, you must have no academic debt. It is theoretically possible, while continuing to study at school, to switch in a specific subject to such an individual plan, which provides for an accelerated passage of the program by the end of the 10th grade. In practice, however, schools do not always agree to such conditions: it is difficult for teachers to allocate time for teaching one student in a separate program.

Part-time education

This form of education, in which the student receives the right to master part of the subjects at school, and part - in absentia, that is, without attending school. In this case, the school will need to conclude an agreement on part-time education. In the same contract, an individual training plan and the procedure for certification in "correspondence" subjects will be prescribed. To switch to a part-time form, one of the parents must write an application addressed to the principal of the school.

distance learning

This form of education provides that the student continues to be enrolled in the school, but does not attend classes, but studies independently. To switch to distance learning, you need a statement from the parent and the conclusion of an agreement with the school, which will spell out the procedure and terms for certification in all subjects.

Family Learning

This form of education means that the student receives education outside the school, on his own, and is enrolled in the school only for certification. At the same time, certification can be taken at any time as the subjects are mastered. To switch to family education, one of the parents needs to write an appropriate application addressed to the principal of the school and notify the local authorities about the choice of family form of education.

self-education

Self-education is the same as the family form of education, but the student himself can switch to it without the participation of parents. Such an opportunity is provided from the age of 15, subject to the successful completion of the OGE for grade 9. To switch to self-education, a statement from the student is sufficient. It is necessary to conclude an agreement with the school on passing attestations. This may be the same school you attended or any other of your choice. You cannot switch to self-education if you have already applied for the USE as a student at the school.

Procedure

If you plan to take the Russian language, basic mathematics or geography, the application for passing the exam must be submitted before February 1 of the year when you have an exam. For example, if you started studying in grade 10 in September 2019, then by February 1, 2020 you need to decide whether you will take the exam at the end of the year and in which subject, and then submit an appropriate application addressed to the school principal.

If you want to take any other subject of the school curriculum, you need to start preparing for the early exam in advance, at the very beginning of the 10th grade, and even earlier, in the 9th grade. This preparation provides for the transition to an individual plan and / or to another form of education, plus early mastering of the program in the subject.

Ideally, if you manage to successfully (at least three) pass the certification for grade 11 in the chosen subject before February 1. In this case, it will be enough for you to submit an application and attach documents confirming the certification.

If you plan to take the 11th grade assessment later than February 1, for example, in the spring, you can still apply. The final decision on admission to the exam is made by the school's teachers' council on May 25. By this time, information about successful certification must be provided without fail.

If the exam is not passed

If during the early passing of the exam you did not score the minimum score for obtaining a certificate, the exam can be retaken on a general basis for the next year, in grade 11.

If the minimum score threshold is overcome, but the result does not suit you, you will be able to retake the exam in this subject only a year after graduation. Therefore, when making a decision, carefully weigh your options and take into account possible risks.

Things to remember:

  1. Any student can pass the exam a year earlier, but in some cases this should be taken care of in advance.
  2. Every 10th grade student can take the Russian language, mathematics (basic level) and geography.
  3. To pass the USE ahead of schedule in any of the other subjects, you must first switch to an individual training plan for this subject or change the form of education at school from full-time to part-time, part-time or family.
  4. The selected subject must be mastered in full before the end of grade 10.
  5. For admission to the Unified State Examination, it is necessary to submit an application to the school before February 1 and to submit documents on passing certification in the chosen subject for grade 11 by May 25.

In our country, early exams are in full swing, and tens of thousands of people are taking the state exam as early as possible. Why do many go to early exams, and who is endowed with such a right?

Reserve days in April for the exam

April 12 is allotted for passing Biology, Foreign Writing, Literature and Social Studies, Physics;

On the 14th - on Friday - you can try yourself in the delivery of mathematics and the Russian language.

Who can take the exam ahead of schedule?

The Ministry of Education approved the following categories of possible participants in the early delivery of the exam:

Those who graduated from school a few years ago (including those who have already passed the exam;

Graduates of colleges, schools - potential university applicants;

Graduates of the 11th grade-evenings;

Graduates of the 11th grade, subject to army conscription;

Those who have to move to another country for various reasons;

Participants of international and all-Russian olympiads and competitions, in case the dates coincide with the main dates of the Unified State Examination;

Being on treatment or rehabilitation on the main dates for passing the exam;

Students outside of Russia in places with a difficult climate.

Why take the state exam ahead of schedule

According to statistics, many are inclined to take the exam early because of the calm environment and the small number of people, when there is no hassle and excitement.

Among other reasons, those who donate include:

Minimum time for organizational questions;

Closely monitoring the work of equipment;

Cool weather in April instead of heat in May;

Readiness of the results 10-12 days after the date of delivery, and, as a result, the opportunity to carefully work out the strategy for entering the university.

All these reasons can be attributed to the undeniable advantages of early passing state exams.

Of the disadvantages of early delivery - more intensive preparation, but, compared with the benefits received, this is just a small inconvenience.

Rosobrnadzor is confident that every year the number of participants in the early exam will only grow.

At the request of graduates of the Unified State Examination and the OGE, if there are sufficient grounds, it can be carried out ahead of schedule. To do this, at the time of passing the GIA, it is necessary to successfully pass the intermediate certification and have an admission to pass the GIA. The procedure for admission to the early delivery of the GIA differs for different categories of graduates.

Graduates of the 9th grade can be admitted to the early delivery of the OGE only if there are good reasons, documented.

38. For GIA participants who are unable, for valid reasons, documented, to pass the GIA within the time limits established in accordance with paragraph 36 of this Procedure, the GIA is carried out early, but not earlier than April 20, in the forms established by this Procedure. (p. 38)

Graduates of the 11th grade may be admitted to the early delivery of the exam at will.

46. For students, external students studying secondary vocational education, as well as students receiving secondary general education in foreign educational institutions, exams, if they wish, can be held in the early period, but not earlier than March 1, in the forms established by this Procedure. ()

Graduates of previous years having a certificate of completion of grade 11, college graduates, or students who received unsatisfactory results at the end of the GIA last year and left school with a certificate, take the exam exclusively ahead of schedule or at an additional time.

For graduates of previous years, the Unified State Examination is held ahead of schedule, but not earlier than March 1, and (or) at additional dates for the Unified State Examination in the forms established by this Procedure.

Participation in the exams of graduates of previous years at other dates for the Unified State Examination is allowed only if they have good reasons (illness or other documented circumstances) and the relevant decision of the SEC. ()

In 2019, the early period for the exam is scheduled from March 20 to April 10, for passing the OGE - from April 22 to May 14.

How to resolve the issue of passing the GIA in the early period

Grade 9 students must additionally document that they cannot take exams during the main period for a good reason, such good reasons may be illness and the need to undergo a rehabilitation course in the main and additional periods of the OGE, moving the family to a permanent place of residence in another country and others exceptional cases. Grade 9 graduates who received unsatisfactory results at the end of the last year's OGE and have a certificate with the results of intermediate certification in their hands can be admitted to the early delivery of the OGE.

To pass the GIA early, students in grade 11 need to write an application addressed to the principal of the school, indicating the reason. As a rule, the need to pass the exam ahead of schedule arises:

  • if in May-June they will be in sanatoriums and other medical institutions on medical and recreational or rehabilitation programs;
  • if graduates are participants in competitions, olympiads or competitions, and the period of competition or training coincides with the deadline for passing the exam in the main stream. Such competitions and olympiads can be both national and international;
  • if eleventh graders plan to move to live in another country after graduation. Note that the move may be associated not only with emigration, but also with plans to continue education on a student visa at a foreign university;
  • if the graduates of evening schools this year have to go to military service.

Advantages of early delivery of the exam

The early stream USE options are no easier than the main stream options. The difficulty level of all variants of the current year is similar. but

More time to choose a university

One of the main advantages of early delivery of the exam is the additional time for making an important decision. Graduates who passed the exam ahead of schedule, by the end of April already know their results, and can calculate their chances of entering the chosen university. For this, open days and education fairs are suitable. And if the results of the exams do not please the graduate, then the decision on where to enter and what profession to choose will not have to be made in a hurry.

It is also important to reduce the pre-examination fuss. The last two months of study will not be held in such tension as the rest of the students who take the exam in the main stream.

A calmer exam atmosphere

The first spring wave of those who pass the exam is incomparably smaller than the main stream. So, in 2017, 26.5 thousand people took part in early delivery, and 703 thousand in the main flow. It should be noted, however, that in 2018, 41,000 graduates fell on the early wave. But despite the fact that the number of early adopters has grown, they are still very few compared to the main stream. It is easy to imagine the level of intensity of the nervously excited graduates who have gathered so massively in the main stream. The early wave in such a comparison looks much calmer: in large cities, only a few dozen people can gather at examination points, and only a few in smaller settlements. Do not forget about the graduates of past years, who could change their minds and not show up for the exam early. In addition, since it is the graduates of previous years who make up the bulk of the early wave, the atmosphere in the classrooms is less tense, because they are more relaxed about exams due to their age. Being able to calm down on an exam is essential to getting successful results. Also, a small number of people in the audience minimizes preliminary briefing: verification of barcodes, control of filling out forms, and so on, which also reduces excitement.

Good organization and comfortable conditions

In 2018, about 41,000 people took the USE ahead of schedule, mostly graduates of previous years. Since there were few takers, only 245 examination sites were used. For a small number of examination points, the removal of special attention to all organizational issues is characteristic. Therefore, in the early period there are practically no technical problems and organizational violations usually do not occur. It is also unlikely that there will be a shortage of additional forms or, for example, the absence of clocks in the classroom.

Many cities in Russia are characterized by a very changeable summer. Therefore, taking exams at the end of May and June may not be very comfortable physically. If there is a hot day during the exam, it can become quite stuffy in the classroom, and the organizers do not always agree to open the windows. In a cold summer, you can face the opposite situation - in June, the heating has long been turned off, the audiences are cold and the cold also makes it difficult to concentrate. In the spring, in the early period of passing the exam, the temperature in the classroom is more predictable.

Quick check

Since a smaller number of works are checked in the early period of passing the exam, experts cope with the check faster. Usually the work is checked 7-9 days, but scores can be published a few days earlier. When submitting in the main stream, the verification of works takes about two weeks.

Cons of passing the exam in the early period

Less preparation time

The main disadvantage of early delivery of the exam is less time for preparation compared to the main stream. This will be the most important drawback for eleventh graders who decide to take the exam ahead of schedule. This is due to the fact that some topics of the school course included in the USE program can be studied at the very end of the school year. Graduates will have to get acquainted with them on their own.

The surprise of changes in KIM USE

As you know, every year the exam options change. Since the early period is the first wave, new control and measuring materials are presented on it. Graduates who will take the exam in the main stream, teachers will have time to prepare for the changes, focusing on the data published after the early delivery. Such data are FIPI demo versions and options that were solved in an early stream. Those who are going to take the exam in the spring cannot count on such luxury and must be prepared for the unexpected.

Harder to prepare

Graduates who take exams in the main stream first take trial exams, which take place at the end of the academic year. Due to the fact that the early wave of passing takes place in March-April, graduates who join it are deprived of the opportunity to take exams for trial. Sometimes you can find practice exams in district departments of education, but often such an exam turns out to be paid. Many students use online servers for preparation, but this method can also fail. Often, site owners, when laying out options, are guided by the deadlines for the delivery of the main stream and do not have time to adapt KIM to all the changes of this year.

We are all people, we all have such moments when it is not possible to come to the exam. What to do in this case? Do not skip the USE or even the USE? The unaffordable luxury of losing a year to retake. Passing the unified state exam carried out in 2 stages:

  1. Early stage(spring: March-April);
  2. main stage(late May-June).

Some students are given the opportunity to make a choice, when to take the exams. But don't think that "shooting early" is a good idea, as with any coin there are two sides to it. So let's figure out what are the pros and cons of early delivery of the exam and the OGE, and also answer the question of who can pass ahead of schedule.

Who is allowed to take exams early?

Unfortunately, not everyone is given the choice when to take the final knowledge test. TO early exams the following persons are allowed:

  1. Persons admitted to the exam, that is, who have mastered the school curriculum - graduates of schools, technical schools, colleges, lyceums, gymnasiums and specialized schools.
  2. Schoolchildren studying in evening schools who will have to carry out military service.
  3. Graduates who leave for permanent residence (permanent residence) abroad.
  4. Schoolchildren who, at the time of passing the unified state exam, will be in sanatoriums or other
  5. Students participating in all-Russian and international Olympiads, as well as Olympiads taking place on the same dates as the exams.
  6. Pupils, graduating classes, absent at the time of the examinations in the country.

How to get permission for the early delivery of the Unified State Examination / OGE?

To qualify for an early exam, you only need to complete two steps:

  1. Find a good reason for postponing exam dates. It is best to choose one of the 6 above.
  2. Write an application addressed to the director of the educational institution with a request to postpone the unified state exams, indicating the reasons.

What are the benefits of taking exams early?

And now it's time to think, if you have a choice, then when is it better to pass the exams: together with everyone or earlier?

There is a rumor that the options for exams held ahead of time are simpler than those that will be at the main stage. We hasten to disappoint you, the options differ only formally, but they are of the same level in complexity. But there are others benefits of early delivery.

  1. Less stress and pressure due to a smaller event. For example, in 2016, 700,000 people passed unified exams throughout Russia, while only 26,000 students took the exam ahead of schedule, and this is throughout our vast country. In fact, at the same time as you will take a maximum of 5-10 people, and this is much nicer than 30-40 in one classroom.
  2. Clear and hassle-free organization. Fewer students taking the exam means fewer problems. There will be no shortage of forms, no problems with placement in classrooms that suddenly may not have hours.
  3. The weather is much nicer in spring. If closer to the north of Russia there are no problems, and in late May - early June the weather is excellent, then in the south everything is much worse. The temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius and stuffiness, a bottle of water runs out in an instant. But in spring the weather is pleasant, both in the north and in the south of our vast country.
  4. The speed of verification at the early stage is much higher than at the main stage. Of course, no one will check your work in one day, but still in 2019 with the availability of computer technology, just a few days and the results will be in your hands. For example, the results of the USE in specialized mathematics in 2018 were waiting for about two weeks. This will not be the case with early release.
  5. Passing the exam in 2019 ahead of schedule, You give yourself more time to choose a further path, which university and which specialty to enter. Unlike applicants, you will have not a few weeks left to choose a university, but almost three months!
  6. After passing the exams ahead of schedule, you will have more time to rest and dedicate time to yourself. Who among us does not like to relax? Plus, you can easily get a part-time job in the summer!

What are the disadvantages of taking exams early?

Unfortunately, there is a reverse side of the issue, without minuses anywhere.

  1. The obvious problem is less preparation time. You lose two months of hard work at school or with tutors. Of course, in schools, the last couple of months are devoted to repeating the material covered and preparing for exams, but it also happens that they can teach something new and important at this time. If you decide to pass ahead of schedule, get ready for hard self-study and repetition of what you already know.
  2. If Unified State Examination and OGE In the main stage you are handed over near the place of study, then during the early stage you are collected from all over the city in just a few establishments. The Ministry of Education has decided that since the number of applicants for early exams is significantly lower than for the main stage, then the number of exam venues must be reduced. For residents of big cities, this is not such a big problem, but for residents of villages, towns, and so on, the path can be thorny.
  3. In 2019, they are not going to use any bright innovations for exams, but everything can change at any moment. And all these tests will be conducted on early passing schoolchildren. In fact, you will be guinea pigs. But do not be afraid, there will certainly not be terrible innovations!

So we sorted out as objectively as possible the pros and cons of early exams in comparison with the main exam. We are confident that you will succeed, the main thing is to believe in yourself!
