Title page by hand. Making a title page in a Microsoft Word document. Components of the title page

Any text document begins with a cover. The MS Word editor from the MS Office package offers for this a whole set of ready-made "titles", in which you will only have to fill in the required fields. However, what if you want to create your own cover page, and even make it always ready for use by adding it to the list of standard ones? We will talk about this today.

In the Insert panel, in the Pages group, click the Cover Page link. By clicking, a window will open with suggested options for ready-made, pre-installed cover sheet templates. Choose the one you like and click on it with the left mouse button.

Insert a title page in Word

Right-clicking on a sheet will open an additional menu. Although, logically, the title page should be the first page of the document, MS Word allows you to insert it anywhere, which allows you, for example, to break a large document into chapters and sections, each of which has its own cover.

If none of the proposed standard options suits you, you can create your own. This is not at all difficult to do - for starters, just create an empty Word document (Ctrl + N) and decide on its background color or pattern. If you decide to leave the background white, go ahead, if you decide to add some color, then just add autoshapes and fill them with color. In this example, I filled the entire surface of the leaf with a solid dark blue color.

It’s a good idea to provide the title page with text blocks - in order to have a ready-made frame that you just need to fill out after inserting. You can do this with the help of "quick blocks", which can be found in the "Insert" panel in the "Text" group. Here, in the drop-down list, you will find ready-made elements for any occasion - you just need to insert them into the document and place them as your heart desires. Elements Date, Subject, Annotation, I believe - the necessary minimum.

Please note that the color, size and font of the elements can be changed like regular text. Especially do not forget about the color - dark letters by default, for example, on my dark mskb background would not be visible.

Create your own cover page in Word

As soon as work on the creation of the title page is completed, you will only have to save it in the list of existing ones. Select all the elements of the page and once again following the path to insert the cover page, select the very last item "Save selection to cover page collection".

Save the new cover page to the template collection

In the window that opens, enter the name of your cover page template, and a description, if necessary. Click "OK"

The design of scientific papers of any complexity without fail includes the preparation of a title page. The abstract, despite its small volume and loyalty to the general requirements for registration, is no exception. According to the title page, an initial assessment takes place, which may well become a decisive factor in the defense. Therefore, writing a title should be taken seriously. To do this, to help students, the methodological department of the educational institution provides a manual with a list of requirements for the design of the work in general and the title page, in particular. If there is no such manual, then on this issue you should consult with the teacher who provides scientific guidance to the project. In the event that this did not bring results, or the student was given relative freedom in the design of the work, you can use the recommendations below, which reflect the generally accepted design standard.

General requirements for the design of the title page

Like the entire abstract, the title page is a sheet of A4 paper. Font - similar to the font of the text of the work. Size, line spacing, case and other aspects of formatting may vary in different blocks of information. In total there are four such blocks - upper, central, right and lower. When designing them, it is important to comply not only with the individual requirements for each block, but also correctly place them relative to each other. Each block should be in its place and in harmony with the rest. Another important point is that primary information (for example, the title of the topic and the full name of the author) should not be “drowned” in the details of a secondary plan. If there is too much text, then it is better to highlight important parts additionally.

Upper block

The first block is the top one. It contains information about the university or other educational institution, faculty and department within which the study was conducted. This block is formatted in the center of the line. Size - 14, one and a half interval. At the same time, the name of the educational institution, unlike the name of the faculty and department, is typed in capital letters and is taken in quotation marks. Between the name of the educational institution and the faculty, an indent of one empty line is made. There is no indent between the lines with the name of the faculty and department.

Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation

STATE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION

HIGHER PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION

"VORKUTA INSTITUTE OF LAW"

Faculty of Law

Department of Criminalistics

central block

The central block is the most important in its content - it contains information about the research topic and the corresponding scientific discipline. It is formatted in the center of the line and sheet and consists of three positions. On the first line, the type of work is written in capital letters - an abstract. The line below, after the words "by discipline", indicates the name of the subject. One more line below, “on the topic” is followed by the full name of the topic of the work. All lines (except the first, of course) begin with a small letter. Size - 14. For the word "abstract" can be used and 16. Single spacing. In addition, the title of the work can also be indicated in capital letters.

in the discipline "Forensic Psychiatry"

on the topic "Forensic psychiatric data as a source of forensically significant information in the investigation of violent death"

right block

The third block is below the central one by seven to nine line indents. Its task is to convey to the reader information about the author of the work and its supervisor. The font of the block is typed in 14 pt. The interval can be either single or one and a half. As you can see from the name of the block, it is placed on the right side of the sheet. There are two options for how to do this. The first option is to simply align the text to the right.

Performed:
5th year student

day department
groups #01-12
Savitskaya K. P.

Scientific adviser:

Ordzhonikidze A.P.

The second option is to move the left margin two-thirds to the right and then align it to the left.

5th year student

day department
groups #01-12
Savitskaya K. P.

Scientific adviser:
Doctor of Psychology, Professor
Ordzhonikidze A.P.

bottom block

The bottom block is the smallest. It contains only the name of the city where this educational institution is located, as well as the year in which the abstract was submitted for defense. Size, as elsewhere - 14. Formatting in the center. As in the case of the right block, the bottom one has two design options: in one line or in two.

Option 1:

Vorkuta 2015

Option 2:

Other requirements

As you can see from the samples, three of the four title page blocks are formatted in the center. This makes the requirements for the margins of the title page rather conditional. However, such requirements exist and may not be of any significance, for example, when flashing a paper version of a work. Here are the requirements:

Top field - 15 mm.

Bottom field - 30 mm.

Right margin - 15 mm.

Left margin - 20 or 25 mm.

Conclusion

The correct design of the abstract is not just a formal necessity, but the same part of the assignment and therefore requires a responsible approach, like the study itself. It is important to remember this, because for a careless attitude to design, you can pay with a good grade.

The first page of the document is like a business card. It causes first impressions, which must be positive. In Word, this is pretty easy.

The Microsoft Word text editor provides a wide range of features, most of which people do not use simply because they do not know about their existence. Among them is a tool for working with the title page. Meanwhile, it allows you to set the original design in a short time. You don't have to use standard templates for this. You can develop your own style and then use it without having to create it from scratch every time.

How to insert a cover page

Most objects in the Word editor are added via the Insert tab on the ribbon menu. Creating a document cover is no exception, moreover, the "Cover Page" button is the very first in this category and is located in the "Pages" area. By pressing it, Word offers many ready-made design options - just select the one you like and click on it with the mouse to add it.

A nice feature of such a title page insert is the automatic absence of numbering on the first page. Therefore, the question of whether does not even arise.

Interestingly, you can insert a cover page in Word not only at the beginning of the document. When choosing a template, you can right-click on it and select one of the insertion options. This feature will be especially relevant if you plan to design not only the cover, but also the beginning of each new section or chapter.

Title page editing

The added template has customized areas for entering text - headings, subheadings, date, author and much more, depending on the selected sample. Unnecessary fields are easy to remove, the rest can be edited in the usual way, changing the font, its color and size, and much more.

Graphic design also has flexible settings. If the title page contains an image, you can replace it by right-clicking and selecting Change Image. In this case, the new picture will be inserted immediately with the dimensions suitable for the design.

If it is a colored substrate, then its color can be changed. Right-click on the background area and use the Style, Fill, and Outline buttons to pick your own.

After all the changes, the updated version of the cover can be saved for further use in new documents. To do this, again go to the "Insert" menu tab, click on the "Cover Page" button and select "Save Selection to Cover Page Collection".

Create your own template

If you wish, you can create your own version of the title page design from scratch. The numerous Shapes and SmartArt objects, also located in the Insert menu tab, are perfect for this. Add a graphic update, then right-click on it and select "Add Text".

If the text must be the same every time, then you can immediately type it. Otherwise, it's better to use . They are available in the "Developer" menu tab (not available by default, but added through the "File" - "Options" - "Customize Ribbon" menu).

When the personal cover page template is ready, go to the "Insert" menu again. Find the "Text" area, click the "Express Blocks" button. In the drop-down menu, select the item "Save selection to the collection of quick blocks." In the dialog box that opens, enter a name for the new template, and for the "Collection" item, select "Cover Page" from the output list.

After saving, your own version will be available through the menu "Insert" - "Cover Page". If you are unhappy with the result, then the template can always be deleted.

Any work, such as a diploma, term paper or essay, begins with a title page. There are generally accepted rules for the design of such first sheets. We offer you to download the sample title page that you need.

  • all title pages are presented in Word, on A4 sheet;
  • any sample can be opened even in the old version of Word, as they all have the DOC file extension;
  • you can easily download and edit the presented title pages.

Title page for abstract

On the title page of the sample for the design of the abstract, you must print your subject, topic, number and letter of the class, as well as your surname and name. You can download the title page for the abstract at.

Title page for term paper

The first page for coursework is slightly different from the title page for abstracts. Coursework is never given in schools, but must be completed frequently in higher education. The title page presented above is suitable for most institutions in the Russian Federation. Free download in .

Title page for the thesis

As a person is greeted by clothes, so your thesis will be evaluated primarily by its appearance, in particular by the title page. For a thesis, it is very important that the title page be drawn up in accordance with a certain GOST. But the problem is that many institutions and professors do not adhere to the current parameters for the design of graduation theses, but it happens that they compare your work according to GOST, which was 10 or even 20 years ago. Therefore, it is best to take a sample from the head of your graduation project. In any case, the most correct example of a title page for a diploma is possible.

Title page, title page - the first page of the academic work, reveals the student's data and the topic. It is used for abstract, term paper, diploma work, report, . It contains information on:

  • Full name of the student
  • Speciality
  • educational institution
  • Work theme
  • The type of work
  • Year of implementation
  • Data of the verifier

The design of the title page in accordance with GOST is regulated by the standard 2.105-95. It was adopted in 1995 and to this day is the main standard for how to issue the title page of an abstract and other works (term papers, diplomas, control papers). This GOST is valid in all CIS countries, including:

  • Russia
  • Belarus
  • Ukraine
  • Kazakhstan

Download title page samples.

Title page margins:

  • left margin: 30 mm;
  • right margin: 10 mm;
  • top margin: 20 mm;
  • bottom margin: 20 mm.

What font should be in the title page.

The guest specifies font size 14 for all fields, except for the table of contents and the title of the work. Usually Times New Roman or another sans-serif font. All data except student information is centered.

Instruction - 6 steps for the correct design of the title page in accordance with GOST.

Depending on whether you are making a title page for a control, term paper, diploma or essay, the completeness of the information will be different. But there are a number of mandatory data that are indicated for each work. The title page header contains the name of the ministry and educational institution.

Step 1. Ministry of Education

Specify the Ministry of Education of your country (14 font, capital letters)

Step 2. Univer.

Following is the full name and form of ownership of the educational institution (14 font, capital letters)

Step 3. Chair.

After that, we indicate the department (14 font)

Step 4. Type of work.

After that, depending on the type of work, in capital letters (16 font, bold Bold):

    • THESIS
    • COURSE WORK
    • TEST
    • ESSAY

Step 5. The theme of the work.

Full topic name, classic spelling 16 font, bold, lower case

Step 6. Data of the performer and verifier

The data of the executor and the reviewer for different works are formatted differently, but always have 14 font size and are written in lower case. Here are some examples ○ Diploma Template

○ Template for term paper

○ Test Sample

○ Abstract template

Can they reduce the score for incorrect design of the title

The design of the title page is an important point on any subject and is part of the normative control. If the teacher accepted the work, in which the title page is incorrectly designed, he does not have the right to reduce the score for this, because. in this case, the work was checked and approved by the reviewer.

Which universities are suitable for

These rules are GOST. Therefore, they are universal and suitable for any university in Russia, Ukraine and other CIS countries. If you fundamentally do not want to redo it when the teacher requires it, you can refer to GOST 2.105-95. in which it is clearly spelled out for whom and how it operates.

Is the design different for different items?

The template for the design of the title does not depend on the subject. All its elements can remain the same and only the name of the item can change. The exception is test papers, which in some subjects may require a title page for a notebook. This is the usual A4 sheet format folded in half. We have a separate material where you can download this sample or design it yourself.

Is the design different for specialties?

Specialty doesn't matter at all. All elements remain unchanged, except for the specialty, which needs to be changed for the current one.
